The first platform that we made for the CSbots program was a combination of two off-the-shelf parts. The Create/Qwerk, which never got a proper name, is a combination of an
iRobot Create and a
Qwerk microcontroller. The robot was highly capable; the Create base gave it fast and accurate movement, built-in Roomba like behaviors like finding a charging dock, and a reasonable amount of robustness. The Qwerk provided the robot with the ability to communicate wirelessly with computers, stream video over wireless to those computers, and produce audio over a speaker.
Unfortunately, this robot is no longer available because the Qwerk microcontroller was discontinued. Nevertheless, for those using it, hardware documentation is available
here, and a download of the software package can be found
here.
Many assignments were written for it, all of which are available in the
Create/Qwerk Assignments section, or can be downloaded
here.
